SMM - Maritime History Walking Tour with Character Appearance and Rum Tasting.

All aboard for the popular Maritime History walking Tour at the Scottish Maritime Museum, Irvine Harbourside.

The Scottish Mritime Museum is pleased to be hosting this fascinating tour by Tasting History Ayrshire Tours that takes you back in time where you will meet characters from Ayrshire’s shipping and trading past. You will hear of some fascinating nautical facts ffrom Captain Betsy Miller who tells of her achievements as the first registered female ship’s captain and Aggie MacIntosh gives an insite to her life living in the tenement rooms at the Harbourside.

After a look at some fascinating vessels and exhibits in the museum before we walk to the shipyard worker’s tenement flat and then onto the Boatshop. From there it’s a visit to a reserved seat at the Captain’s tasting table to sample some delicious IslandSlice Rum. You will have full access to the Scottish Maritime Museum, exhibits and current exhibition after your tour until closing at 5pm.

Starting in the Scottish Maritime Museum, Irvine, the tour commences at 10.30am. The tour will last approximately 2 hours, requires moderate walking and is all on the level with access for chairs and buggies on request.

Rum tasting available to 18 years and over only with a non-alcoholic alternative for younger crew members and those in charge of a vessel.

Adult £28 per adult ticket. Child £14 per child ticket. (Limit of four children per tour)
