Gift Aid
As a registered charity, The Institution of Engineers in Scotland can treat their annual membership subscriptions as ‘donations’. This means they can claim back 25% in Gift Aid from HM Revenue & Customs if the person paying the membership subscription (and any additional donation) is a UK taxpayer and signs the Gift Aid declaration in Membermojo. Your total ‘donations’ will qualify for Gift Aid as long as they are not more than 4 times what you have paid in tax in that tax year.
Depending on your circumstances, you may be able to claim personal tax relief on your IES membership subscription, see https://www.gov.uk/tax-relief-for-employees/professional-fees-and-subscriptions
